 We follow all NCAA Rules with the exception of league specific rules listed below.

 

  1. 20 min halves with 2 min halftime.  Clock runs in the first half except for the last minute.  Second half clock stops on all free throws. Clock runs if point differential is greater than 20 in second half. Gym coordinator/score keepers can also decide to run the clock and/or cut time from the game due to late start by informing the captains and referees.  All teams should be present at the gym 15 min prior to the game to pay referee fees and fill out stat sheet.

  2. Referee will count 30 sec shot clock in the last 2 minutes of the game. Game clock will stop on made baskets in the last minute of the game.

  3. If a game is a blow out the referee has the ability to call the game early if teams are fouling and/or the winning team is trying to run up the score.  If a team is winning more than 20 points they are not allowed to press the losing team in the second half.

  4. 3 (20 sec) timeouts can be used at any time of the game. If you are out of timeouts and you call a timeout it will be a team technical 2 (shots). 

  5. 2 min overtime with 1 additional timeout in OT, Timeout from regular game can carry over into overtime.

  6. Games are scheduled to start on time you may play with 4 but if you only have 3 players 2 point will be given per min till your 4th man arrives.  If team is more than 15min late the game is considered a forfeit.   Teams can still play each other when they arrive for fun.

  7. Technical foul on all curses including bench players, players fouled out – penalty 2 shots  – counts as personal foul.  Can be called by the referee, score table, appointed league committee members (long as it’s not during their game). 

  8. Technical foul on all dunks – penalty 2 shots and basket does not count, and counts as personal foul.

  9. Extended trash talking will lead to technical foul and ejection.

  10. Two technical fouls are an automatic ejection – player must leave the gym.

  11. Misconduct or fighting will result in ejection – penalty ejection and 2 shots, automatic suspension and player must leave the gym.

  12. All technical fouls will count as personal fouls and the player must sub for 2min game time - cursing, throwing items, punching, kicking, knowing things down even in a time out or while on the bench includes any other misconduct.

  13.  Each player is allowed 5 personal fouls per game.  If you only have 5 players and one of your player is fouled out you can choose to bring him back into the game but a technical will be issued.  The tech is issued soon as you choose you to allow him to remain in the game after the 5th foul. 

  14. All players must have matching jersey with number and SABL logo– penalty 2 Points for each jersey, taped on numbers will not be accepted.

  15. All players and teams must be approved by the commissioner if the player or team is new to the league the commissioner can ask the captain to drop or add a player to even the talent level on a particular team.  All teams and players must adhere to this rule, If you do not accept these rules please do not join the league.  Any captain can raise an objection to any player or team.  All players should be of Asian/Middle Eastern decent exceptions can be requested. There are some exceptions made to these rule, but the captains can object to any of these exceptions and the commissioner will rectify the situation to create an even playing field for everyone by cutting and adding players to a team.  Player/team fees are not refundable when a team is requested to cut a player as we only collect team fees.  The captain is responsible for the full team fee of the league.  This is a recreation league we reserve the right to cut any player/team that is not following all the rules playing at the talent level of this division.  All teams should uphold good sportsmanship and avoid beating on an opponent that is already down more then 20 points.   You will receive one warning if you go over 20 points on the second offense your team will be penalized by having the captain sit out the next game in addition the commissioner will decide which player you have to drop from your team as you have proven your team is too good by consistency beating teams by big margins.  

  16. All roster changes must be completed by the end of week 5.  Any player added after week 5 will result in a forfeit.  You cannot pickup a player even if you have 4 players, you must play the game with 4 otherwise its a forfeit after week 5.  Team fees must be completed in full before your first game otherwise you will not be allowed to play.  A team roster will be maxed out at 10 players per team.

  17. All players must have played at least half their games to qualify for playoff.  (5 Games this season)  10 game season with double elimination playoff for top 4 teams.  

  18. Forfeits – When a forfeit is given do to administration issues within the team and the game is played the stats will count and all the players that played will count as has played that game.  Teams that only show up with 3 guys will count as having showed up for their game to qualify for playoff.  Teams that do not show up at all will be listed as DNP.  No show teams will also be required to pay double in referee fees as their opponent was there to play and no game was conducted.  We must have 48hr notice to waive this fee if a team is not able to attend.
